District 70 Opportunities Beyond Your Club

There are many opportunities for you to step beyond your club and participate in short and long term volunteer roles that contribute to the success of District 70, while building your individual skills and experience. Listed below are some of the open positions seeking expressions of interest, and who to contact to discuss them further.

Vacancies for 2023-24

These roles are available now as a District Officer or Staff Officer and will be ongoing through to 30th June 2024.

  • Length of Role: now-30th June 2024

    Time Commitment: 5 hours per week

    Role Description: Manage the Web Team in maintaining and updating the District website, ensuring that content is current and meets the needs of the District.

    Ability to improve upon the current SEO and UX design of the site highly desirable.

    Prerequisites: Prior experience with building or maintaining websites required.

    Skills Required/Developed:

    • Website maintenance including frequent content updates.

    • Leading a team

    • Timely response to requests - workflow management.

    • Attention to detail, including content and design choices that are in line with the Brand Manual and District Mission.

  • Length of Role: Now-6th May 2024

    Time Commitment:

    Up to 5 hours per week nearer the District Conference (early May24), less time per week further out.

    Role Description:

    We are looking for members who want to assist in any of the following - planning, registration, marketing, managing across the District Conference weekend (early May), greeters and hosts, comperes, line dancers.

    Prerequisites:

    A desire to make a difference in the District Conference, to make it more relevant to more of our members, to have fun.

    Skills Required:

    Depends on what you want to do in the team, happy to discuss.

    Role Reports:

    Will vary there are likely to be a number of teams and team leaders, and a number of single person roles.

Short Term Vacancies

These are shorter term projects, once off roles and presentation opportunities occurring throughout the year.

  • Length of Role: Single event

    Time Commitment: Event duration approx. 2 hours, plus preparation

    Role Description: This event will be a single session ran as a panel discussion of Toastmasters who have delivered TEDX speeches. The target audience is non-Toastmasters, scheduled for January 2024 to capture the “New Year, New Me” market, helping people to see how the skills learned in Toastmasters can assist them in their desire to deliver a TEDX speech.

    We are seeking expressions of interest for panel members.

    Prerequistes: Be a current Toastmaster and have delivered a TEDX speech.

    Skills Required: Online presentation skills (will be held via Zoom), comfortable presenting in a non-structured way (impromptu, unscripted).

  • Are you seeking to achieve your DTM education level and looking for opportunities to fulfill some of the leadership requirements?

    District 70 have a number of active enquiries from community groups and organisations wanting to access the Speechcraft Short Course.

    Length of Role: Approximately 12 weeks, including preparation and delivery times.

    Time Commitment: Approximately 20 hours

    Role Description: This is a Project Management style role whereby together with your delivery team you negotiate a structure (4-8 weeks, varying duration of each session, any specific goals they may have), and then plan and implement the delivery of a short course.

    There are plenty of resources available through Toastmasters, as well as upcoming training on the role available (visit the District Calendar to find out more).

    Skills Required:

    Role Reports: As the Speechcraft Coordinator, you will lead a small team of people to deliver the short course to a paying customer.

Elected Roles 2024-25

These are District leadership roles with a formal application process, including an interview round with the District Leadership Committee. The elections take place at the annual District Conference in May 2024.

  • Length of Role: 12 months

    Time Commitment: 20 hours per week across 12 months.

    Role Description: The District Director is elected by the District Council and acts as the District’s Chief Executive Officer. They direct the District in a way which fosters strong clubs; achieves growth in education completions, clubs, and membership; and is consistent with the interests of members of Toastmasters International. Tasked with achieving the mission of the district in a manner that motivates volunteer leaders and promotes a standard of excellence in all district activities.

    Prerequisites:

    • At least 6 consecutive months as a Club President

    • At least 12 consecutive months as a Program Quality Director, Club Growth Director, Division Director, or a combination thereof.

    • 12 months membership in District 70 within the past three years

    • Member in good standing of a club in good standing

    Skills Required: Indepth knowledge of the Toastmasters program, people management, conflict resolution.

  • Length of Role: 12 months

    Time Commitment: 15-20 hours per week over 12 months

    Role Description:

    The Program Quality Director is elected by the District Council and is the 2nd Ranking District Officer in the District. Under the guidance of the district director, oversees and promotes Education and Training for all club officers, Area, and Division leaders.

    Prerequisites:

    • At least 6 consecutive months as a Club President

    • At least 12 consecutive months as a Program Quality Director, Club Growth Director, Division Director, or a combination thereof.

    • 12 months membership in District 70 within the past three years

    • Member in good standing of a club in good standing

    Skills Required:

    Reporting To: District Director

  • Length of Role: 12 months

    Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per week over 12 month period.

    Role Description:

    Club Growth Director is elected by the District Council and is the 3rd ranking Officer in the District. Under guidance of the District Director, Promotes and oversees the District Marketing, Club Growth & Retention, and the benefits of Toastmasters membership available to greater number of people.

    Prerequisites:

    • At least 6 consecutive months as a Club President

    • At least 12 consecutive months as a Program Quality Director, Club Growth Director, Division Director, Area Director, or a combination thereof.

    • 12 months membership in District 70 within the past three years

    • Member in good standing of a club in good standing

  • Length of Role: 12 months

    Time Commitment:

    Role Description:

    The Division Director is elected by the District Council. As Division Director it is your job is to lead and support your Division through the supervision and support of the Area Directors in your Division. Ensuring that each club achieves its mission and fulfills its responsibilities to its members. You report regularly to the District Director, Program Quality Director, and Club Growth Director on Division progress.

    Prerequisites:

    • At the time of taking office, the Division Director shall have served at least six consecutive months as a member of a District Council.

    • The Division Director may be re-elected to one succeeding term.
